American International College, Springfield MA
- AIC has awarded degrees to 364 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students in 2023. Local students earning degrees were Marcos Coelho Pfitzer of Ellington, Doctor of physical therapy; Amanda Allegra of Ellington, Master of Science in nursing; Ariana DiCioccio of Ellington, Master of Arts; Avery Foye of Somers, Master of Business Administration; and Muoi Petruff of Somers, Master of Science in nursing.

- Jack Soto of Ellington, a senior who majors in accounting, was inducted into the Delta Mu Delta honor society at the Business Honors Reception on April 18 in the Student Center's Betty R. Tipton Room. Founded in 1913 by professors from New York University and Yale University, as well as the dean of Harvard College, Delta Mu Delta (DMD) has grown into an honor society reading 175 countries and has more than 160,000 members. In order to be inducted, students must have a 3.25 GPA in their field and be in the top 20 percent of their junior or senior class.
- A field trip to the Bahamas in May gave 11 students in a tropical biology course at Eastern Connecticut State University a chance to observe and collect data on the flora and fauna of oceanic islands. Among the students was Isabel Mund of Ellington, a senior who majors in biology. The field trip was an extension of a seminar on oceanic island ecology taught by biology Professors Kristen Epp, Josh Idjadi and Brett Mattingly, who joined the students on the trip. During the 12-day trip the group visited a barrier reef, a mangrove estuary, dunes, a fossil reef, rocky outcrops and more. Most of their time was spent at the Gerace Research Centre on San Salvador Island.
Emerson College, Boston MA
- Emerson College awarded approximately 1,058 undergraduate degrees during the 143nd Commencement at Agganis Arena in Boston on Sunday, May 14, 2023. Katelin Berube of Ellington received a BA in writing, literature and publishing.
Mississippi State University, Mississippi State MS

- Shaya Abou Jawdeh of Ellington is among more than 4,100 students graduating from Mississippi State University in spring 2023. Abou Jawdeh received the Master of Science from MSU's Bagley College of Engineering.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy NY
- Alexander Gervin of Ellington and Halle Raina of Somers have made the Dean's Honor List for the spring 2023 semester. Gervin is studying mechanical engineering, while Rain is studying chemical engineering. RPI's Dean's Honor List is compiled at the end of each semester to recognize undergraduate students who have completed 12 or more credit hours with a 3.5 grade point average or better for that term.
University of Saint Joseph, West Hartford CT
- Morgan Beebe and Eben Holmes, both of Ellington, made the Dean's List for the spring 2023 semester. Students were awarded this academic achievement for having earned a GPA of 3.50 or higher for the semester, with no grade lower than a "B." Beebe is majoring in bioInformatics, while Holmes is majoring in biochemistry.
