Somers Candidate Profile: C.G. "Bud" Knorr Jr., First Selectman

SOMERS, CT — Election season is heating up in Somers, and there are plenty of contested races with candidates eager to represent their town in November's municipal election. Ellington-Somers Patch asked candidates in the first selectman, selectmen and Board of Education races to answer questions about their campaigns, and is publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

C.G. "Bud" Knorr Jr., a Republican, is running for re-election as First Selectman.

Occupation: First Selectman. (50) plus years in business with executive positions at major fortune 500 companies and local businesses with expertise in Marketing, Finance, Strategic Planning, Manufacturing, Negotiation Strategy and Personnel. (Aluminum Company of Ame)

Previous or Current Elected or Appointed Office: Ten years on the Board of Selectmen and 2.5 years as First Selectman with a record of success/contributions.

The single most pressing issue facing our town is: Maintaining the unique character of Somers and our financial well being in light of the State's fiscal woes.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post: Proven track record of accomplishments for Somers backed up by 50 years of executive business and leadership skills/experience managing multi-million dollar companies.

List other issues that define your campaign platform: Careful government spending and budgeting and keeping taxpayer burden low. Fiscal discipline; open and transparent communications. Controlled economic development and commitment to safety in schools, Fire, Police and emergency response.
