Somers High School Band to Honor Deceased Veterans

The 17th Annual SHS Memorial Day Celebration will occur on May 26, 2018 at 10:00am.

The 17th annual Somers High School Memorial Day Celebration will take place on May 26, 2018 at 10:00am in the Robert B. Percoski Auditorium. All are invited to come and remember our soldiers who lost their lives during their service to this country. The performance is free to attend and runs for an hour and a half.

Every year at Somers High School, a committee of students comes together and creates a memorable celebration for community members. Beginning in February, meetings occur regularly, in which a theme is chosen, speakers are selected, and the ceremony is organized. These students work diligently to honor the soldiers who lost their lives in service to this country.
For the past seventeen years, a Memorial Day committee has been student-led at Somers High School. This year’s team is especially devoted to making the performance extraordinary, and is chaired by SHS Junior Kilee Nutbrown. The seventh grade, eighth grade, and high school bands will each perform selections surrounding this year’s theme, the American flag. In addition, speakers will share their experiences in the armed forces with the audience and other special performances are scheduled. This is a celebration not to be missed and one that will be enjoyed by all in attendance.
From everyone on the 2018 Memorial Day Committee, we hope that you will come and join us for the 17th annual Memorial Day Celebration in honor of our deceased veterans. This event begins at 10:00am on Saturday, May 26, in the Robert B. Percoski Auditorium (Somers High School, 5 Vision Boulevard, Somers, CT). Any questions or comments should be directed to our committee, who can be reached via email at: somers.memorial.committee@gmail.com.
