Somers High School Grapplers Qualify for State Open

The Spartans had a pair of individual champions and two other placewinners at the Class S championships.

WINDHAM, CT — A quartet of wrestlers from Somers High School will be competing in the State Open next weekend, following impressive performances in the Class S championships at Windham High School.

The Spartans had a pair of individual champions and two other placewinners, finishing seventh in team competition with 95 points.

For a record 20th time, Ledyard won a state class title, compiling 203.5 points to outdistance Windham's 188. Montville was third with 185.5 points.

The State Open will begin Friday, Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.
