Somers High School Names Valedictorian, Salutatorian
Top scholars announced from the Class of 2013.

Somers High School has announced that Nicole Gay is valedictorian and Mark Erwin is salutatorian of the Class of 2013.
Nicole Gay is an active member of the school community. She is an officer of both the National Honor Society and Beta Club and has become involved in various service projects as a result. For the past three years, she has been a dedicated member of the Drama Club as a part of the set committee. Nicole is also a member of Scriptura, the high school's literary magazine, and the Editor of The SHS Gazette, the school newspaper. This year, she was named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist for demonstrating academic excellence. Outside of school, Nicole enjoys art, practicing ashtanga yoga, and working at Scantic Valley Farm. She will be attending the University of Connecticut this fall, pursuing a degree in biomedical engineering as part of the Honors Program.
Mark Erwin is actively involved in the Math Team, JETS, and Beta Club of which he is President. He does cross country and indoor and outdoor track. He has won many awards, some of which include the Rensselaer Medalist Award, AP Scholar with distinction, four JI Scholar Athlete Awards and the AP Calculus Award as a sophomore. Mark is an avid runner who enjoys not only running marathons but ultramarathons also. He will be attending Darmouth College this fall where he plans on double majoring in chemistry and physics.
Graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2013 are scheduled for Friday, June 21.
