Somers Obituary: Ashley Locke, 28

She was an extremely kind-hearted and compassionate person who had a deep love for animals.

Ashley Catherine Locke, 28, of Somers, formerly of Lebanon, beloved daughter to Glen and Susan Madamas Locke, sister to Justin, passed away early on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at home. Battling depression and physical ailments for years, her demons finally got the best of her. She gave little to no sign of their ultimate power over her prior to taking her own life.

Ashley was born in Springfield on November 1, 1990. She was an extremely kind-hearted and compassionate person who had a deep love for animals. Growing up, she would consistently ask not only for a dog, but to have a pet cow in the back yard. In the fields or on a farm… that is where she felt at peace with the world. She loved her time at her good friend, Brandon Smith's farm, pampering and playing with the 1,200-pound bulls.

Her rescue dog, Archie, meant everything to her. She loved to take him on walks or bring him anywhere that she went. Ashley always treasured her trips out to the mountains in Vermont or walking the sands at Cape Cod; she truly appreciated the simplicities in life. Whenever she was able to get the whole family together, for a trip, a party, or just a dinner, she was content.
