Somers Obituary: Gaetan Gingras, 71

Gaetan (Guy) Harscel. Gingras, 71, of Somers, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Guy was born on July 22, 1944 in Sherbrooke, Quebec to Irene and the late Paul Emile Gingras. He is survived by his long time love, Lilian Keene. Guy is also survived by his three daughters, Diane Gingras formally Bigelow, Suzanne Bastarache and her husband Alan, Lorianne Carenzo and her husband Thomas all of Somers. Guy also had seven amazing and talented grandchildren, Breanne and Paige Bigelow, Nicholas and Samantha Bastarache, Sophia, Amelia and Dominic Carenzo and his great granddaughter Nevaeh Madison Martinez. Along with his children he leaves behind his sister, Collette Rodrigue of Manchester, NH, and three brothers, Robert Gingras and his wife Margarette of Myrtle Beach, SC, Gerry Gingras and his wife Carol, Robin Gingras and his wife Marian, of Wethersfield.

Guy was a long time resident of Somers, he was a self-employed developer who built many beautiful homes and condominiums, such as Still Meadow, Nutmeg Village, Maple Heights and Somers Village which will be enjoyed by many future generations. He was also known to many as Buffalo. He enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, restoring cars with his longtime friend Greg and many many bonfires with his family and friends. Guy will be remembered as a self-sacrificing man who cared for his family above all.

Visitation hours will be held from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., Somers. Family and friends will gather at 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2016 at the Somers Funeral Home for a procession to All Saints Church in Somersville, for a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Committal will follow at Somers Center Cemetery.
