Somers Obituary: Guistina Sheiber, 90

Condolences to her family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of Guistina “Tina” Josephine (Rogledi) Sheiber of Somers announces her passing. She was the widow of Theodore L. Sheiber.

She was born on November 28, 1924, in Stafford Springs to the late Ernesto and Catarina (Biz) Rogledi. Tina grew up in Stafford attending local schools and graduating from Stafford attending local schools and graduating from Stafford High School Class of 1944. In 1945, she was hired at the Troop C Barracks in Stafford as a dispatcher. It was there that she met the love of her life, Ted, when he came on board as a new recruit to the CT State Police force in 1947. Of the 3 recruits who came that day, she knew in her heart that Ted would be the man she married. He did ask her to marry him on their first date in June of 1947. She told him her mother would make them wait one year and so they were married on June 5, 1948. They lived their love story for 59 years, traveling in retirement to Hawaii, the Caribbean, cruising the Panama Canal, the Northwest, Alaska and Canada, until Ted’s passing in June of 2007.

Tina became a stay at home mom after the birth of her first child in 1950. She took on this most important job, raising her 4 children, with all the love and devotion her heart could hold. Her family was her life and we feel blessed to have been raised by parents who put us above all else in a home filled with love, laughter and good family times. We were also blessed with a strong family bond with Sunday nights spent with grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins in the Rogledi family homestead in Stafford Springs. We also shared a close bond with Gramma and Grampa Sheiber who dearly loved their Italian daughter-in-law.
