Somers Obituary: James Ferreira, 87

James Ferreira, 87, of Somers, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Beloved husband of 59 years to Theresa (Carreiro) Ferreira.

James was born in New Bedford, MA on October 31, 1928, son of the late Antone and Mary Catherine Ferreira. James proudly served in the United States Army, during World War II. He enjoyed his 35 years of employment at Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks. He was a member of the Lions Club in Somers and the American Legion in Enfield. James was a parishioner of All Saints Church, Somers. He enjoyed Thursday luncheons with his fellow ROMEOS.

He leaves behind Cathy and Michael Gotta of Somers, Peggy and Paul Jaronko of Southington, Terry and John Pilch of Greenville, SC, and Jim Ferreira and fiancée Kristi Bennett of Granby. He spent his later years finding his most joy with his family and 10 grandchildren Meagan, Denise, and Rachael Gotta, Jason and his wife Tina, Mathew, and Samantha Jaronko, Eric and Sam Pilch, Dylan and Josh Ferreira, and Sarah Bennett.

Family and friends may gather on Wednesday, November 4 at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main Street, Somers at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at All Saints Church, 25 School Street, Somers at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Somers Center Cemetery, with military honors. His family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
