
Lawrence Y. Lindahl, 79, entered heaven on August 22, 2015 with his loving family by his side.
Larry was born February 23, 1936 in Springfield, MA to Margit (Jacobson) and Otto Lindahl. He resided in Somers for the past 19 years and prior to that in E. Longmeadow, MA with the love of his life, wife, Marilyn (Dionne). Larry retired from the University of MA where he was a Senior Purchasing Manager. He served 9 years in the National Guard.
His greatest joy was his family. He had an unbelievable pride and confidence in all of his children’s and grandchildren’s abilities and potential. He loved watching all kinds of sports including NASCAR, baseball, football and golf. He loved to drive and made 4 trips with Marilyn across the country.

Larry leaves his wife of 57 years, Marilyn (Dionne) Lindahl to cherish his memory. He also leaves his 2 sons, John and his wife, Mary Anne, of Pleasanton, CA, James and his wife, Stacey, of Tampa, FL; 2 daughters, Dianne Georgantas and husband, Nick, and Joan Laplante and husband, Roger, all of Somers, CT. He leaves his grandchildren; Nicholas and wife, Elizabeth, David and Joseph Georgantas; Thomas, Erik and Elizabeth Lindahl; Amanda and Sara Laplante; Ashlyn Lindahl; Bryan and Brooke Cline and his great-grandchildren, Brenna and Benjamin. Larry also leaves 2 brothers Len Lindahl of Wilbraham, MA and Bob Lindahl of San Diego, CA. Larry was predeceased by 2 grandchildren, Matthew Georgantas and Rachel Laplante.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 26th from 4-7 PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, MA. A funeral will be held on Thursday, August 27th beginning at the funeral home at 10:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Michael’s Church, East Longmeadow at 11:30 AM. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
