Somers Residents Arrested After Traffic Stop

The pair are now facing several charges after being stopped on I-84 in Vernon.

Two Somers residents are now facing several charges after they were stopped on the highway.

On Tuesday at approximately 2:15 p.m., a trooper stopped a tan Jeep Cherokee on I-84 westbound. After a brief interaction, police say troopers searched the vehicle and found drug paraphernalia and narcotics hidden in it.

Denise Polk, 46, of 203 South Rd., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal sale of narcotics (cocaine), illegal sale of controlled substance, and prescription narcotics not kept in original container.

Joseph J. Clifford, 39, also of 203 South Rd., was charged with use of drug paraphernalia, using a cellphone will driving, having an obscured registration plate, failure to carry a license, and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.

Both were held on a $5,000 cash/surety bond and were due in court on Wednesday.
