Somers Runner Wins State Cross Country Championship
Teams from Ellington High School also fared very well at the CIAC class meets Friday at Wickham Park.

MANCHESTER, CT — Kylie Raymond of Somers High School dominated the Class S field in breezing to victory in the CIAC cross country championships Friday at Wickham Park.
The junior crossed the finish line in 19:30, 42 seconds ahead of runner-up Emily Sienna of Hale Ray. Treena Pitt (17) and Rachel St. Germain (23) also placed in the top 25, giving the Spartans a fourth-place team finish.
Ellington High School placed third in the girls Class SS competition, paced by Sydney Schultz (5), Kathryn Bonanno (8), Katherine O'Connell (14) and Clara Mattson (18). The Knight boys took fifth in Class M, with top 25 showings from Joshua Stone (17) and Jack Olender (23).

The top two teams and 12 individuals from each class advance to the State Open, scheduled for Nov. 2, also at Wickham Park.
