ELLINGTON-SOMERS, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire. More great feats will be noted in the coming weeks.

Bob Jones University, Greenville SC

  • Paul Landry, a sophomore political science major from Somers, was among over 650 Bob Jones University students named to the spring 2023 President's List. The President's List recognizes students who earn a 3.75 or higher grade point average for the semester.

Regis College, Weston MA

  • Kristen Steidler of Somers graduated with a MS in nursing - family nurse practitioner from Regis College during the May 6, 2023 commencement exercises. Steidler was among more than 1,300 students who received degrees ranging from associate to doctoral levels.

Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester NH

  • Athena Daugherty of Ellington has been named to Southern New Hampshire University's winter 2023 Dean's List. The winter terms run from January to May. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.699 for the reporting term are named to the Dean's List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.

  • Western New England University held its College of Business Senior Awards Ceremony on May 2 on the University campus. The University honored 11 graduating seniors who were selected based on their academic achievement in the major or based on their overall class standing. Emma Archambault of Somers received the Outstanding Student in General Business award. This award recognizes a graduating senior selected by the faculty for excellence in the study of General Business. She is graduating with a BSBA in general business.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

  • Samantha Curtis of Ellington, a member of the class of 2024 majoring in psychological science, was a member of a student team that recently completed an intense research project titled Increasing Street-Level Accessibility in Cuenca, Ecuador. At WPI, all undergraduates are required to complete a research-driven, professional-level project that applies science and technology that addresses an important societal need or issue. About two-thirds of students complete a project at one of the university's 50-plus off-campus project centers, which are located around the world. A signature element of the innovative undergraduate experience at WPI, the project-based curriculum offers students the opportunity to apply their scientific and technical knowledge to develop thoughtful solutions to real problems that affect the quality of people's lives-and make a difference before they graduate.
