State Police Investigate Drowning of Elderly Stafford Man
The man fell into the Willimantic River while fishing in Stafford.

Connecticut State Police from Troop C in Tolland are investigating the apparent drowning Thursday evening in the Willimantic River, next to the Town of Stafford Commuter Lot, located at 24 River Rd.
Police said troopers responded to the scene about 6:07 p.m. Thursday.
The victim has been identified as Jacob Wytas, an 81-year old Stafford resident. Wytas had been fishing along the bank near the Commuter Lot, and for an unknown reason fell into the river and was later found deceased, police said in a statement.

Police are asking that if anyone saw Wytas or had contact with him between the hours of 3:30 and 6 p.m. April 23, is asked to contact Troop C at 860-896-3200, ext. 8045.
