UPDATE: State Police Stage Active Burglary Investigation on Thursday in Ellington
Police were mum on the Thursday morning activity.
ELLINGTON, CT — State police on Thursday morning began what they are calling "an active burglary investigation" in the area of routes 140 and 30 in Ellington.
State police said that at about 5:30 a.m., a burglary was reported at the Ellington Depot Deli and General Store, 1 Crystal Lake Road. It was not known on what might have been stolen, state police said.
At about 6:10 a.m. a burglary was reported at the Lakeside Deli & Market, 99 Stafford Road, state police said.

An ATM was taken, state police said.
Troopers and and a state police dog unit were searching the area for suspects on Thursday morning, state police said.

The road is a major route toward Interstate-84 for commuters.
