State Police: 'Target' Shooters Hit Ellington Houses — Including One With Children Home

ELLINGTON, CT — Four people who ventured off into a back field in Ellington to shoot last year have been arrested because their shots hit two homes —including one with children inside, state police said.

The arrests were made via warrants, state police said.

Arrested on Tuesday were Brandon Beaudoin, 23; of Bristol, Tisa Platt, 21, of Niantic; Timothy Roy, 23, of Bristol; and Justin Bussell, 23, of Derby, were all charged with the unlawful discharge of a firearm, trespassing, third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree reckless endangerment, police said.

The incident took place last Sept. 26 and state police were first alerted to it by a Ridgeview Drive resident who said he had come home with his family and went out to cut his lawn, according to arrest warrants. He heard several shots that seemed closer than a nearby gun range, according to warrants.

That was at 5:40 p.m., state police said. The man then told state police he found a bullet hole in a bookcase, according to warrants.

A short time later, the man's daughter found a bullet hole in an upstairs window, according to warrants.

Another resident reported finding a window with a bullet hole in it, state police said.

The four, who are due in curt on Aug. 23, told state police they were "target shooting," warrants indicate.
