State Tournament Play to Open for Ellington, Somers

ELLINGTON-SOMERS, CT — Cross country is over, swimming brackets will be announced later this week and football still has three games to go, but four other sports begin their state tournaments over the next three days, with three involving teams from Ellington and/or Somers high schools.

Listed in order of better seeds, here is the upcoming tournament schedule for Knight and Spartan teams:

• boys soccer (S): East Windsor/Housatonic winner at No. 3 Somers, Wed., 11/8, 2 p.m.
• boys soccer (M): Woodland/Wolcott Tech winner at No. 6 Ellington, Wed., 11/8, 2 p.m.
• girls soccer (M): No. 17 Ellington at No. 16 Montville, Tues., 11/7, 6 p.m.
• girls soccer (S): No. 18 Somers at No. 15 Stafford, Tues., 11/7, 2 p.m.
• girls volleyball (M): No. 27 Ellington at No. 6 Nonnewaug, Mon. 11/6, 6 p.m.
