At approximately 10:39 p.m., troopers from Troop C in Tolland received two 911 calls from Roessler’s father, stating his son was out of control and throwing items around the house.
Once troopers arrived on scene, they learned that the out-of-control individual had been “huffing” dust-off and became irate when the complainant refused to bring him to the store to buy more chemicals to “huff.” The complainant also reported that the accused smashed the telephone when attempts were made to call 911.

After investigating the facts and circumstances of the incident, troopers attempted to place the accused under arrest. When the troopers tried to take the accused into custody, he became violent and pushed one of the troopers. After a brief struggle, they placed him in handcuffs.
As Roessler was being placed in the patrol car, he bit one of the trooper’s hands and began spitting. After multiple warnings to stop his violent behavior, the trooper utilized his department-issued pepper spray in order to gain compliance from the accused.
Roessler was then transported to Troop C for processing.
