Storm Cleanup in Somers Still Ongoing

SOMERS, CT — Cleanup efforts in Somers from the weekend wind and rain storm spilled into Wednesday, town officials said.

Roads closed as of Wednesday morning included:

• 71 Mountain View Road. Tree on wires – road closed
• 177 Gulf Road. Tree on wires – road closed
• 157 County Road. Tree on wires – road closed
• 27 Wells Road. Tree in wires – road closed
• 384 Watchaug Road, pole No. 13941. Tree in wires – road closed

All of these closures must be cleared by Eversource for:

• Eversource line crew must ensure the power is off
• Eversource tree crew can then remove the tree from the power line
• Then Town forces can move in and clean up the debris

Eversource was predicting nearly all restoration efforts to be completed by 6 p.m. Wednesday.
