Strawberry season in Connecticut has begun and whether you want to pick your own or purchase ready-picked there are many options around Ellington and Somers to enjoy this early summer treat.
Starvish Farm, North Water Street, East Windsor, is now open with daily hours from 8am-5pm through early July. North Water Street is just past Maine Fish Market and Restaurant located on Bridge St (Rt. 140) Follow the pick your own signs. You can also find Starvish Farm strawberries at the Ellington Farmers Market Saturdays 9am-noon in Arbor Park. For updates on picking conditions visit the Stravish Farm Facebook page. To order pre-picked in bulk leave a message at 860-623-3473. A 48-hour notice is required.
Scantic Valley Farm, 327 9th District Road, Somers CT plans to open this weekend. Scantic Valley Farm also takes advanced orders for pre-picked berries.

Ready-picked berries are available at all locations and the Dzens Garden Market at 187 Windsorville Rd, Ellington.

Several Strawberry Festivals are planned this June. South Windsor Strawberry Festival takes place in Nevers Park on Saturday, June 11th from 9 am-5 pm.
The Ellington Farmers' Market Strawberry Festival takes place on June 18th from 9am-to noon in Arbor Park. Enjoy fresh strawberry shortcakes from LuAnn's Bakery and shop strawberry jams, baked goods and of course fresh local strawberries!
