Suspect In Ellington Supermarket Seafood Thefts Charged
A man accused of stealing seafood at a superket with the intent of re-selling it has been charged.

ELLINGTON, CT — A man accused of stealing seafood at the Ellington Big Y with the intent of re-selling it for cash has been charged with larceny by state police.
Bryan McLaughlin, a 32-year-old resident of Meriden, was arrested on a warrant Thursday, according to a report.
The case dates back to March 2018, state police said. Several other Big Y stores were involved, according to a warrant.

The premise was to steal frozen seafood items out of display cases and sell them back to small stores and restaurants for cash, according to a warrant.
He was seen on the Ellington Big Y store surveillance system entering the store, grabbing a hand-held basket and heading to the seafood department, according to a warrant. He then selected several frozen items, placed them in the basket and climbed into a Dodge Stratus after exiting the store, according to a warrant.

McLaughlin worked with an accomplice, according to a warrant.
