Suspected Drunken Driver With Toddler In Car Nearly Hits Cop

A suspected drunken driver with a toddler in the car nearly hit a police cruiser, a report indicates.

SOMERS/STAFFORD, CT — A suspected drunken driver with a toddler in the car nearly took out a state police cruiser before being arrested last week, a report indicates.

The incident took place at 10:15 p.m. on Dec. 28 in Stafford, according to a report. A trooper patrolling Route 190 westbound near Johnson Memorial Hospital saw a vehicle crossing over the center line into his lane and then had to avoid it before turning around to follow it, a report indicates.

The car was pulled over near the Somers line, state police said.

The driver, Elizabeth Anne Lavoie, 32, of Ellington, had a 2-year-old in the car, according to a report. She was charged with driving under the influence, DUI with a child younger than 18 as a passenger, failure to drive right, and risk of injury to a child, according to a report.

She is due in court on Jan. 9, state police said.
