Teen Blames Spilled Coffee for Wild Crash in Ellington: Report

A teen blamed spilled coffee for a wild crash in Ellington, state police said.

ELLINGTON, CT — The 18-year-old driver of a 2012 Honda Civic blamed spilled coffee for her car ending up in a field off White and South roads on Sunday morning, state police said in a report.

The crash took place at 9:21 a.m., state police said. The Honda was traveling north on South Road. The driver told police she spilled coffee on herself and lost control of the vehicle, a report indicates.

The car hit several trees and came to a final rest in a field near the intersection with White Road, according to a report.

The girl, who lives in Westfield, MA, was taken to Rockville General Hospital in an ambulance with minor injuries, state police said.
