Ellington’s New EMS Director Has Deep Roots In Town

Town leaders said the hire brings a seasoned emergency services leader back to the community where he started.

ELLINGTON, CT — The Town of Ellington has hired Craig Webb as its new Director of Emergency Medical Services, town officials announced in an email.

First Selectman Laurie Burstein and Town Administrator Matthew Reed said Webb officially joined the town team this week, bringing decades of emergency services leadership and a deep personal connection to Ellington’s EMS system.

Webb is a longtime emergency services professional with experience in real-world incident command, municipal operations, and system-wide emergency response management, according to the town. Officials said his background positions him to help maintain and strengthen the level of EMS service residents expect.

Town leaders emphasized that Webb’s career began locally. He started in emergency services with Ellington Rescue Post 512 and Ellington Ambulance, giving him first-hand knowledge of the town’s EMS history and operations.

“Craig’s dedication to Emergency Services began at the Ellington Rescue Post, and we’re proud to welcome him back to our EMS community with the wealth of experience he’s gained over the years,” Burstein said in a statement.

Webb said returning to Ellington in a leadership role is meaningful both professionally and personally.

“As an Ellington native who grew up in this system, I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work alongside our town’s departments, providers, and community,” Webb said.

Reed said Webb’s combination of professional experience and local perspective made him a strong fit for the role.

“Craig offers a depth of experience in emergency medical services and a strong personal connection to Ellington,” Reed said. “Having volunteered with our local ambulance service as a teenager, he understands both the history and the responsibility of the organization. He is excited to honor the legacy of Ellington Ambulance while positioning our EMS system to meet the community’s future needs.”
