Train, Car Collide in Stafford
It was one of two simultaneous crashes in Stafford on Wednesday morning.

STAFFORD, CT – First-responders rushed to a pair of simultaneous accidents on Wednesday morning, including a train hitting a car.
The crashes took place at about 7:30 a.m., according to Tolland County 911.
The car and the train collided on West Street, but no major injuries were reported. Two cars collided at Route 190 and Magauran Drive, according to Tolland County 911.

West Street was closed for most of the morning as crews cleaned up the scene, according to Tolland County 911.
Regarding the train incident, a Vernon woman tried to sneak through a railroad crossing with its warning signals flashing on Wednesday morning and her car wound up being nailed by a moving train, state police said.

The incident took place at 7:16 a.m., at the New England Central Railroad crossing on West Street, about 300 feet shy of Center Street, state police said.
A crash report indicates that a 2013 Nissan Sentra driven by 20-year-old, Renee Sturges, who lives in Vernon, was heading eastbound. She "disregarded" the railroad crossing warnings and her car was hit by a locomotive towing another locomotive and six freight cars northbound, state police said.
Sturges was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital via ambulance for evaluation, according to a crash report.
