Tri-Town Edges Conard in Overtime
The goal by Brian Borbas lifted Tri-Town to 10-3 on the season.
Tri-Town senior forward Brian Borbas netted the game winner at the 4:06 mark in overtime to lift the Terrorcats over visiting Conard 2-1.
"It was a great game and was a great way to celebrate senior night," coach Paul Dowe said. "It was even more important to get out of our two game slump."
The first period was end to end action with Tri-Town holding an edge in shots 9 to 5. Tri-Town (10-3) had numerous chances to take the lead but Conard's goalie Nick Micelli had an answer for every chance.
In the second period, freshman Ronnie Williams got Tri-Town on the board off a beautiful feed from sophomore Cody Roy.
The 1-0 score would hold until late in the third period after Tri-Town made some mistakes in its own end allowing for Conard (5-6-3) to tie the score with 9.8 seconds left on the clock.
"This was a great hockey game all around with both team having great opportunities," Dowe said. "Tri-Town did control the game for the most part overall outshooting Conard 27 to 21 but Conard battled tonight and had if not more at least the same amount of Grade A scoring chances. We need to minimize the Grade A chances we give up. Overall this was a great way to celebrate senior night."
Next up for the Terrorcats is North Haven at home on Monday at 6:20 p.m.
