Tri-Town Hockey Falls to South Windsor

The game was hard fought and Tri-Town had some chances but came up on the short end.

The Tri-Town hockey team engaged in a tough, physical, defensive battle with South Windsor on Monday night and came up just a bit short.

fell 3-1 to the Bobcats. Tri-Town outshot South Windsor 20-15 but fell short. 

"We had our chances early to take the lead and we failed to do so and when South Windsor had their chances they converted," coach Paul Dowe said. "I am excited to play them again in late February as I think we match up really well with them."

South Wndsor got goals from Tyler Glassman, Joe Bonazelli and Chris Jones while loan goal was from Luke Cormier.

The goal for Cormier, a sophomore, was his first varsity goal and it came off a rebound. Brian Borbas had an assist on the goal. At the time, was putting a lot of pressure on the Bobcats.

For Tri-Town, goalie Mitch Diresta saved 15 shots and for South Windsor, goalie Chris Marchi turned away 20. Diresta made many point blank saves, including a breakaway with time running out in the second.

Tri-Town put on a lot of pressure late in the game, but were denied several times by great goaltending by Marchi and defensive block shots.

South Windsor improves to 12-2 and is ranked second in the Division I rankings. Tri-Town moves to 9-2 and is ranked 12th. Tri-Town travels to Notre Dame-West Haven on Wednesday.
