Wickets & Whimsy to Bring Croquet, Community, and Vintage Charm to Ellington
Local businesses, families, and organizations encouraged to build teams and create a new Ellington tradition

The Ellington Historical Society is inviting the community to step back in time and enjoy an evening of friendly competition, vintage style, and summer fun at its inaugural Wickets & Whimsy: Nellie's Great Lawn Social on Friday, June 26, from 5:15 to 8:30 p.m. at the Nellie McKnight Museum, 70 Main Street.
Set against the picturesque grounds of the historic museum, the event will transform the lawn into a Jazz Age-inspired garden party featuring croquet competition, whimsical costumes, food, refreshments, and plenty of opportunities for socializing.
Teams of up to six players are encouraged to participate, (no need to form a team beforehand) making the event an ideal outing for local businesses, volunteer organizations, nonprofit boards, families, friends, and coworkers. Participants are invited to embrace the spirit of the evening by wearing Gatsby-inspired, vintage, or garden party attire. Prizes will be awarded for creative style.

Organizers say the event is designed to bring people together in a relaxed and entertaining atmosphere while celebrating community connections. Those who do not have a team are encouraged to attend, as organizers will help individuals join existing teams.
"Wickets & Whimsy is more than a croquet tournament," said organizers. "It's an opportunity to gather with neighbors, build friendships, enjoy the beautiful museum grounds, and create a new community tradition."
