Woman Accused of Smuggling Drugs Into Osborn

SOMERS, CT - A Vernon woman is accused of sneaking drugs into a prison in Somers.

Michelle Matos, 44, was charged with the illegal sale of a controlled substance, conspiracy to convey an unauthorized item to an institution and conveying an unauthorized item to an institution, state police said.

She was arrested on Thursday, state police said.

An arrest warrant indicates state police were notified that drugs were being smuggled into Orborn Correctional Institution via letters mailed to the prison.

They were traced to Matos, state police said.

She lives in Village Street in Vernon, state police said.
