Town Worker Injured In Ellington Road Repair Accident
A worker was injured in an on-the-job accident in Ellington Monday afternoon.
ELLINGTON, CT — A town employee was injured in a road maintenance accident in Ellington early Monday afternoon.
An emergency official said a town employee was working on a catch basin as part of a road maintenance project in the vicinity of 30 Maplewood Drive when the accident took place at 12:52 p.m. The worker was placed in an ambulance at the scene. An emergency helicopter was standing by in a nearby field on Hoffman Road, which airlifted the unidentified victim to an area hospital.
State Police Sgt. Brian Santa said the victim suffered "a laceration to the upper part of his neck," and added the man "was in stable condition when we got him in the aircraft."

Officials of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are in charge of the investigation at the scene, Santa said.
Ellington First Selectman Lori Spielman confirmed the victim is an employee of the town.

The victim's name has not yet been released pending notification of family, Santa said.
