12-Year-Old Found Dead In Enfield
State police major crime detectives are assisting local officers with the investigation.
ENFIELD, CT — A 12-year-old girl was found dead inside a home on Elm Street Wednesday morning, prompting an active investigation involving local and state authorities.
According to the Enfield Police Department, officers, firefighters and EMS crews were dispatched to 176 Elm St. around 10:25 a.m. after a 911 call reported an unresponsive female.
Upon arrival, first responders confirmed the child had died at the scene.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner responded to the home, but officials said a cause of death was not immediately apparent.
Police said they have obtained a search warrant to conduct a full investigation of the residence. Members of the Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crime Squad are assisting Enfield officers, and authorities are expected to remain on scene through the evening.

There is no known threat to the public, according to police.
