Here’s When To Register Your Enfield Kindergartener

ENFIELD, CT — Families with incoming kindergarteners will soon be able to begin the registration process for the 2026-27 school year, with Enfield Public Schools set to open online enrollment next month.

District officials announced in an email that kindergarten registration will open March 13 on the Enfield Public Schools website, www.enfieldschools.org. Parents and guardians will be able to complete the process online and upload required documentation directly through the registration portal.

Children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2026, to be eligible to start kindergarten when school begins Aug. 27, 2026, in accordance with Connecticut law.

There is, however, a limited waiver option for younger students. Parents of children who turn 5 between Sept. 2 and Jan. 1 may submit a written request asking that their child be considered for early enrollment. Approval would be based on an assessment of the child’s academic and social skills.

The waiver request form will be available on the district website from March 13 through April 13. Officials said requests will not be accepted after April 13. Once a form is submitted, families will be contacted to schedule an assessment.

Students currently enrolled in Enfield Head Start, EPS Integrated Pre-Kindergarten or the EPS Pre-K STEAM Academy do not need to re-register.
