8 Enfield Establishments Accused of Selling Alcohol to Minors

An unannounced compliance check was conducted Thursday night at more than two dozen Enfield locations.

ENFIELD, CT — Eight Enfield establishments will soon have appointments with the state Liquor Control Commission after being accused of serving alcoholic beverages to minors during unannounced compliance checks.

The Department of Consumer Protection Liquor Control Division and the Enfield Police Department conducted the checks of 26 restaurants and bars on Thursday evening. The compliance checks were done with assistance from four volunteer minors who had been trained by the Governor’s Prevention Partnership, Lt. Willie Pedemonti said.

It is alleged that the following eight businesses served alcoholic beverages to the minors:

Routine compliance checks help identify businesses that knowingly or unknowingly sell alcohol to minors and bring them into compliance with state law. However, compliance checks are not intended to hurt local businesses, Pedemonti said.

The businesses that allegedly sold to a minor will appear before the Liquor Control Commission for an administrative hearing, at which time they will have an opportunity to address the charges, according to Pedemonti.
