Abandoned German Shepherd Caught After Days On The Loose
The dog repeatedly eluded police and Enfield Animal Control over the following days, remaining at large .
ENFIELD, CT — Police and animal control officials are trying to identify the owner of a German shepherd believed to have been abandoned after the dog spent several days loose in a residential neighborhood before being captured.
According to the Enfield Police Department, officers first began receiving calls on Jan. 23 about a loose German shepherd roaming the Mullen Road area. The dog repeatedly eluded police and Enfield Animal Control over the following days, remaining at large until the morning of Jan. 28.

Police said two officers were ultimately able to secure the dog and transport him safely to the Enfield Animal Shelter.
Officials estimate the dog is about 3 years old. He had no collar or tags and did not have a microchip when scanned, police said.

Police also said the dog will be available for adoption beginning Feb. 11. Residents with prior experience handling German shepherds who are looking for a companion dog are encouraged to reach out to animal control for more information.
