ENFIELD, CT — Residents in Enfield are invited to donate blood at a community drive honoring fallen town employee Jamie Nickerson on Thursday, May 7, at the Enfield Senior Center, 299 Elm St.
Nickerson, an Enfield public works employee, was killed last September while operating a lawnmower that was struck by a car on North Main Street Sept. 12. He was 51.
The blood drive will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to town officials.
Organizers say the drive is intended to both support lifesaving blood donations and commemorate Nickerson’s life.
Community members have already volunteered and pledged to donate, and additional participants are encouraged to sign up.
“Every donation has the power to save lives,” organizers said in the announcement.
Organizers said the event aims to bring the community together “to honor Jamie’s memory in a meaningful way.”
Appointments can be scheduled through the American Red Cross using the sponsor code “JamieNickerson,” or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS. For more information, residents can contact Enfield Senior Center Manager Mary Keller at 860-763-7426 or
