The new executive director started work on the job Monday, May 4.

Kiner, a resident of Somers, Connecticut, with longstanding ties to Enfield, began the role May 4.

ERfC, founded in 1994, provides before- and after-school programs, summer enrichment, and family support services aimed at children’s academic, social, and emotional development.

Board chairman Michael Green said the organization expects Kiner to help expand programming and advance strategic goals.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors and dedicated ERFC staff, we look forward to working with David to advance our strategic objectives and expand our programming to surrounding communities. David's experience as a community leader and former board member are assets in achieving these goals,” Green said.

According to the board, the search focused on candidates with nonprofit leadership experience and a collaborative approach to working with staff, community partners, and local leaders.

Kiner previously served on ERfC’s board and held elected office as a member of the Enfield Town Council and later as a state representative for Enfield and East Windsor.

His background includes advocacy on education policy and after-school programming.

“ERFC has long been a cornerstone of Enfield's support system for children and families. It is a privilege to lead an organization I know so well and care about so deeply,” Kiner said.

The board said a four-month national search preceded the appointment, with consulting support from Harvest Development Group, LLC, led by Melanie J. Cecarelli.

Kiner’s appointment marks a leadership transition as the organization looks to broaden its reach in the Enfield area and nearby communities.
