ENFIELD, CT — A summer program will give local children a closer look at police work and other emergency services.
The Enfield Police Youth Academy is scheduled for two sessions in August at JFK Middle School, according to a flyer from the Enfield Police Department.
The program is open to children between 10 and 14 years old. It will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 10 through Aug. 14 and Aug. 17 through Aug. 21.
The academy will include lessons and demonstrations tied to police, fire and emergency response work.
Subjects listed on the flyer include officer safety, building searches, a K9 demonstration, motor vehicle stops and field sobriety tests. Participants are also expected to tour the Enfield Police Department.
The program will also include a drone demonstration, CPR training and fire safety training.
Applications can be picked up at JFK Middle School or the Enfield Police Department.
