Enfield Nonprofit Reaches Major Milestone After 10 Years

ENFIELD, CT — Enfield Community Cat Project is getting its first physical space after a decade of operating without one.

The nonprofit cat rescue announced it will begin renting the former Loaves & Fishes property at 28 Prospect St. in the Thompsonville section of Enfield beginning July 1.

According to the organization, Loaves & Fishes approached the rescue because the property’s historic lease, dating back to the 1800s, requires that it be rented to another nonprofit organization.

The space will mainly be used for storage of rescue supplies, donations and equipment. It will also give the group a dedicated place for volunteer meetings, training sessions and other organizational activities.

Enfield Community Cat Project said the cost of the space is essentially the same as what it currently pays for a storage unit, making the move an easy decision for the rescue.

“As many of you know, Enfield Community Cat Project has operated for 10 years without a physical space of our own, so this is a huge milestone for our organization,” the group said in its announcement.

The organization thanked Loaves & Fishes for helping make the move possible and said the space will allow the rescue to continue growing and serving the community.
