The closure comes as Enfield hosts its annual three-day Fourth of July Celebration from Friday, July 10, through Sunday, July 12. The event schedule includes concerts, children’s activities, a 5K road race, the Independence Day Parade and Sunday night fireworks.

The parade is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, with the theme “America 250: A Journey Through the Centuries.” The Independence Day 5K is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday.

Fireworks are scheduled for 9:45 p.m. Sunday, July 12. Fireworks traffic closures are expected to begin around 9:15 p.m. and will include Route 5 between Enfield Avenue and Park Street, Elm Street between I-91 northbound and Route 5, and the I-91 Exit 48 off-ramps leading onto Elm Street, according to the town.

Temporary parking restrictions will also be posted around the Town Green area. At least one side of Alden Avenue, Lincoln Street, North Main Street, High Street, Enfield Avenue, D’Anunzio Avenue, Summers Street, Park Avenue and Belmont Avenue will be posted “No Parking” during the celebration weekend, according to the town. Vehicles parked in violation of temporary signs may be ticketed or towed.

Free shuttle bus service will run between Enfield High School and the Enfield Town Green during the celebration, according to the event schedule.

Motorists are advised to expect delays, follow posted detours and plan alternate routes in advance.
