Police: Fugitive Arrested In Enfield

ENFIELD, CT — A Springfield, Massachusetts, man was held on $100,000 bond after Enfield police said officers checking a white van at a Pearl Street municipal lot discovered he was wanted on an extraditable warrant from Massachusetts.

Enfield Community Police Officers were conducting a proactive foot patrol on Aug. 3 in response to reported quality-of-life concerns, including ordinance violations and suspicious activity, police said.

Residents told officers about a white van that had been parked at the municipal lot for about a month. Officers observed trash accumulating around the van's doors, according to police.

While checking the vehicle's registration to identify its owner, officers found the plate belonged on a white BMW sedan, police said. They then contacted the van's occupant, identified as Aurelio Duclerc, 47, of Springfield.

Police said Duclerc had an active extraditable Massachusetts warrant for an offense described as "Wood and Other Property: Burning or Aiding in Burning."

Duclerc was arrested and charged with fugitive from justice under Connecticut law. He was held on $100,000 bond, according to Enfield police.
