ENFIELD, CT — Backpacks packed? Pencils sharpened? Enfield students are heading back to class Thursday, Aug. 27, for the first day of the 2026-27 school year, according to the Enfield Public Schools calendar.
As students of all ages get ready for a new year, we're asking Enfield residents to help send them off with a little wisdom: What's the best advice you'd give a local student heading back to school?
Maybe it's a practical tip, a confidence boost or something you wish someone had told you when you were in school. Share your best back-to-school advice here, and we may feature your response in an upcoming Patch article.
Mimi of Enfield kicked us off with these wise words:
"Being a kid can be hard; school can be hard. But it's not forever. For most of your life, you will be an adult, making your own decisions about what you want to do and who you want to be with. So set yourself up for a good life. Pay attention in class and get the best grades you can. Don't worry about the jerks — after graduation, you won't see those kids again."
