Marie Pyznar, current Town Councilor at Large and former Deputy Mayor of Enfield, has announced her candidacy for Connecticut State Representative in the 58th District. The 58th District includes the town of Enfield, encompassing Thompsonville, the neighborhood where Marie grew up.

"I love my community — it's been my home for 70 years. I understand firsthand the issues my town and state face, and I intend to be a voice for the residents in Hartford for common sense solutions that make Connecticut a thriving, prosperous place to call home," said Marie.

Marie is a lifelong resident of Enfield and passionate about her town's future. Elected to town council in 2021 while serving in the minority party, she quickly learned the importance of speaking up and fighting for Enfield residents. Re-elected in 2023, she served as Deputy Mayor until 2025 and currently serves as Councilor at Large. A strong advocate for the elderly, veterans, and taxpayers, Marie has fought for responsible spending and transparency and understands the wide range of challenges facing the state.

If elected to serve in Hartford, Marie will be a strong voice for the Enfield residents and will strive to bring change to the following issues:

1. Affordability. Connecticut currently ranks 46th out of 50 states for economic affordability. Newly retired residents and recent graduates alike are leaving for more affordable states. Marie will work to keep Connecticut residents here. 2. Unfunded mandates. State-imposed mandates on municipalities have created a financial drain on residents and added to the local tax burden. 3. Rising health insurance costs, particularly for seniors who depend on Medicare. 4. Electric costs. Marie supports removing the state-mandated public benefit line from electric bills, which would significantly lower costs for ratepayers.

As a State Representative, Marie will dedicate herself to finding solutions to once again make Connecticut affordable by focusing efforts on cutting taxes and wasteful spending.
