ENFIELD, CT — Families looking for lower-cost housing in Enfield will be able to apply for a spot on the waiting list for two-, three- and four-bedroom homes starting Nov. 2.
The Enfield Housing Authority will open its Moderate Rental Program waitlist for Green Valley and Laurel Park at 8 a.m. that Monday, according to its opening notice. The application period ends at 8 a.m. Feb. 1, 2027.
After the deadline, 250 applicants will be selected through a random lottery. Those selected will be notified in writing no later than Feb. 22, 2027.
Applying early will not improve an applicant's chances.
"The date and time a pre-application is submitted will not affect selection or placement on the waitlist," the notice says.
The lottery is for placement on the waiting list. The notice does not announce 250 available homes or give a timeline for moving in.
Pre-applications must be submitted through the authority's online application portal. Only one pre-application per household will be accepted; duplicates will be rejected.
Applicants can use a computer, laptop, smartphone or tablet. People with disabilities who need a reasonable accommodation to apply can contact Tara Peritz at 860-745-7493, ext. 202.

The state Moderate Rental Program serves families with low and moderate incomes. The opening notice lists these maximum household income limits:
According to the authority's housing program information, monthly base rents effective Jan. 1, 2026, are $532 for two bedrooms, $570 for three bedrooms and $603 for four bedrooms.
Tenants pay the base rent or 30 percent of their adjusted gross income, whichever is higher. Applicants whose income falls below the level used to set base rent must demonstrate that they can afford it, according to the notice.
The authority's 174 moderate rental homes are duplex-style units with yards, washer and dryer hookups, and off-street parking. Residents pay for water, gas and electricity and supply their own appliances, including a stove and refrigerator, according to the program website.
Applicants who are not selected will not receive a notification letter. The notice says the authority will not accept phone inquiries about lottery results.
Applicants can check their status and placement through the online waiting list status page.
