Although people may know her as the successful Color Analyst for the UConn women’s Basketball on WTIC Radio, it was Kara Wolters’ experience in dealing with bullying as she was growing up that truly resonated with guests at the recent North Central CT Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Breakfast held at Grassmere Country Club, Enfield, on June 1.
Scholarship recipients from the communities of East Windsor, Enfield, Somers and Suffield; along with recipients from Asnuntuck Community College and the Adult Education/GED program, parents, school administrators, local officials, chamber members and guests were captivated by Ms. Wolters’ story of struggling to overcome the doubters, the naysayers and the cruel comments in order to realize her dream of success in her chosen profession of basketball. Her words hit home with the scholarship recipients because they had to overcome trials of their own to achieve success in their lives.
