‘Answering The Call’ For 5 Decades: Enfield Chief Hits Major Milestone

Enfield EMS publicly congratulated the longtime North Thompsonville leader.

ENFIELD, CT — A milestone that few in the fire service ever reach is drawing praise across town.

The North Thompsonville Fire Department is celebrating Chief Earl Provencher’s 50th anniversary with the department — five decades of service that officials described as defined by dedication, leadership, and commitment to the community.

In a social media post, the department said Provencher has spent half a century “answering the call, leading with integrity, and standing committed to both this department and the community.” The tribute credited him with mentoring generations of firefighters and helping shape the department's culture and strength over the years.

The message concluded with congratulations on “an incredible 50 years of service,” noting it was shared without the chief’s knowledge.

The recognition quickly drew support from partner agencies. Enfield EMS publicly congratulated Provencher, saying it is “proud to work alongside Chief Provencher” and marking the milestone as a significant achievement.
