Apparent Misunderstanding of Overhead Conversation Led to Enfield HS Incident
A discussion about school security reportedly involved a reference to the Sandy Hook school shooting, and a student reporting it to police.

Enfield school officials have said the incident at Enfield High School this week apparently was a misunderstanding when a student overheard part of a conversation between a couple of fellow students.
Enfield police and school officials went on alert Tuesday morning after a student reported a student made a threat and made reference to the December 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown.
Superintendent Jeffrey Schumann denied initial reports that the school was placed on an “internal lockdown.”

Schumann told WFSB, “A student overheard another student yesterday threatening to harm other students at Enfield High.”
Schumann added that once officials were made aware of the threat, officers immediately reported to the teen’s home. The student told police that he was discussing school security and flaws at the school he believed could lead to a school shooting. Apparently another student overhead and told police, which led to the major scare.
