Applications Open For Heating Help In Enfield

ENFIELD, CT — Enfield residents struggling with heating costs can now apply for help through the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program.

Applications for the 2026-27 season opened Tuesday. Eligible households can receive between $355 and $705, depending on income, household size and heating source, according to the state Department of Social Services.

The money is generally paid directly to a utility company or fuel vendor. Households that heat with oil, propane or kerosene may qualify for additional deliveries.

Income limits are set at 60 percent of the state median income. A single person can earn up to $48,714 and qualify. The limit is $63,703 for a two-person household, $78,692 for three people and $93,681 for a family of four.

Residents receiving SNAP, TANF, SSI or certain veterans benefits may also be eligible.

The first fuel deliveries under the program are scheduled for Nov. 2. Applications will be accepted through May 31, 2027.

Enfield residents can apply online or contact Community Renewal Team at 860-560-5800 to schedule a telephone or in-person appointment. Applications can also be submitted by email, mail or through Enfield Social Services.

Enfield Social Services is located at the Alcorn School, 1010 Enfield St., and can be reached at 860-253-6395. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

Applicants should be prepared to provide income information for everyone in the household, along with other documents listed in the application. The state said applications generally take 30 to 45 minutes to complete.
