Athletic Conference Denies Team Merger for Enfield, Enrico Fermi Football
The teams sought to combine their rosters for the 2015 season — a year before the schools merge.

A request to consolidate the football teams of Enfield and Enrico Fermi high schools has been denied by the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC).
Enfield Athletic Director Barry Bernstein told The Courant that CIAC denied the football teams’ application to be merged into one team this fall.
The team merger application came a year before the 2016 consolidation of Enfield High School and Enrico Fermi High School into one school. When the schools merge, the sports programs will be consoliated. CIAC would not comment on the decision, according to The Courant report which can be found here.
