Attempted Murder Charges Filed Against Enfield Man
The victim, the suspect's wife, underwent emergency surgery at a hospital in Hartford, police said.

ENFIELD, CT — An Enfield man is being held on a $1 million bond, facing charges of attempted murder in connection with an attack on his wife Friday morning.
Daniel Burke, 51, is charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree assault, first-degree strangulation, two counts of risk of injury to a child and possession of a dangerous weapon.
Around 5:10 a.m., police received a 911 call regarding a domestic violence incident at 4 Arrow Street. Upon arrival, officers were met at the front door by Burke, who "stated that he had killed his wife," police said.

Police found a woman upstairs with visible stab wounds to the neck and abdomen. She was rushed to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford and underwent emergency surgery, police said.
Police Chief Alaric Fox said the weapon was a knife, about 18 inches long, inside of a cane.
