Bear Caught on Video Crossing Busy Enfield Street

ENFIELD, CT — A proliferation of recent bear sightings in northern Connecticut added a new twist Monday evening, when a business surveillance camera captured a black bear crossing one of Enfield's busiest roadways.

The video, posted online by Angie's State Line Package Store at 90 Enfield Street, shows the bear standing at the northeast corner of Route 5 and Brightmeadow Boulevard as traffic passes by in both directions. Ultimately, a white SUV stops as the bear trots across the four-lane road and ventures into the parking lot of the commercial building containing the package store and A Call to Arms gun shop.

In the video, the bear disappears from view after veering through the south side of the parking lot. There is a small wooded area behind the building.

The timestamp on the videotape indicates the visit took place at 8:03 p.m.
